Groups are available to children, youth and adults with autism spectrum disorder or intellectual disability to develop social skills, cope with change and transitions, promote problem-solving strategies and increase social interactions in a variety of settings. In groups of three to six, participants of similar age work towards a shared goals. Group goals will differ across participant age and skill level.
Emotional Regulation Skills
For children and youth 8 – 12 years old. Focusing on identifying emotions within themselves and others, coping strategies to self-regulate emotions and behaviour, as well as problem solving related to emotions and behaviour. Facilitated by therapists (1:4 ratio) with supervision from our senior clinicians who are Board Certified Behavior Analysts® and Ontario Autism Program Clinical Supervisors.
Friendship Skills
For children and youth 7 – 12 years old. Focusing on social skills including finding common interests, joining groups, being a good sport, and solving basic conflicts in friendship. Facilitated by therapists (1:4 ratio) with supervision from our senior clinicians who are Board Certified Behavior Analysts® and Ontario Autism Program Clinical Supervisors.
Adult Community Skills Group
This group program supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities including autism. Behaviour Technicians support participants at a 3:1 ratio with supervision from our senior clinicians who are Board Certified Behavior Analysts® and Ontario Autism Program Clinical Supervisors. Programs are tailored to meet individual goals, and include community-based teaching opportunities. Opportunities are provided for individuals to learn skills and independence in recreation and fitness goals, dining, volunteer experiences, social and leisure opportunities, and academic experiences. Small group activities are guided by individual interests.
